My little MaGyver

So this morning I locked the bedroom door, as I ocassionally do. It has become a necessity with a certain someone who likes to go in and out repeatedly and slam the doors. I get really sick of the slamming, the fighting between the girls and of this:

My poor little pictures can't handle the slamming. And frankly, my OCD can't handle the pictures being askew all the time. If you've been to my house, you know that I like EVERYTHING to have a place and to be in order. I'm always picking up, straightening and putting away. I like clean, I mean you can't eat off my floors, and I'm sure I would fail the white glove test, but I do try. But I digress. The point is, I locked the door, but I had to go back in the room several times to get things, or put things away. To get in, you use a little skinny "key" that is kept above the door on the frame. Maggie happened to notice me unlock it and watched what I was doing. So, I went about my business and was doing something in the kitchen when I came back into the family room, she jumped a mile when I caught her doing this:

Apparently she'd found a little bobby pin and she was working diligently to get that door unlocked and opened. Now I ask you, how can you not just love a child for their ingenuity? I mean really, how freaking cute and clever is that? And on the other hand, it's just a scarey little reminder that you can't do ANYTHING without them noticing. Little eyes are ALWAYS watching.

Gotta love her, MY little MaGyver.

Wait till she figures out a way to unlock it when YOU'RE in there. Now that ought to be interesting! If Tucker's late to voice, it's due to his driving abilities. I'll come next week so's I can play his Regionals song. I'm currently in the throes of preparing a teacher's luncheon for 30.

OK, that is funny. You've got yourself a clever little thief there, you do. :) It is a good thing kids are cute. That's all I've got to say!

Isn't it amazing how quickly they learn to "jump miles" when they know they're doing something "wrong" but they are gonna do it anyway! That conscience starts trying to help us so early and we get so good at ignoring it! But oh my, what an observant child! For sure, watch your step Mama!
